Seasonal Cleanup
I offer seasonal garden cleanup and clearance across Newquay, Truro, St Austell, Bodmin, and the wider Cornwall area. Whether your garden has been let go over winter, needs a spring reset, or just wants tidying before autumn sets in, I will clear the mess, cut back the overgrowth, and leave it looking sharp. Cleanups start from £80, and every quote is clear and fixed before I begin.

A clear, practical reset for the season
Seasonal cleanups are honestly my favourite type of job. They give the biggest visual difference in the shortest time, and there is something satisfying about taking a garden that feels overwhelming and turning it into something manageable again. I focus on the work that makes the most impact first, clearing the bulk, cutting back hard where needed, then tidying the details so the whole space feels reset. In Cornwall, gardens rarely stop growing entirely, even through winter. That means things can get ahead of you quickly, and a proper seasonal cleanup twice a year keeps everything under control.
I start by removing the built-up mess: leaf litter, dead plant material, dumped garden waste, and anything else that has accumulated. This alone makes most gardens feel dramatically different. Cornwall's mild, wet winters produce a surprising volume of organic debris, so clearing it thoroughly is the foundation of every cleanup.
Overgrown shrubs, wayward branches, and tangled climbers all get cut back to a sensible shape. For larger or storm-damaged material, I assess access and safety before quoting and will tell you if a specialist tree surgeon is the better fit. The goal is a clean, natural shape that suits the plant and the space around it.
Borders and beds tend to disappear under weeds and self-seeded plants over the course of a season. I clear them out, pull weeds properly, and redefine the planting areas so they look intentional again. For gardens near the coast around Newquay and Perranporth, I also clear salt-damaged foliage and suggest hardier replacements where plants have struggled.
Clean edges between lawn and border make an instant difference to how finished a garden looks. I cut fresh, crisp lines with a half-moon edger, and tidy along paths, patios, and fence lines. This is the detail that separates a quick tidy from a proper cleanup.
After the cleanup, I will let you know what to prioritise next and when to do it. Spring cleanups in Cornwall are best done by late March so beds are ready for the growing season. Autumn cleanups work best in October or early November, before leaf fall peaks and the wetter weather settles in.
I do not leave half-done. Every cleanup finishes with a sweep of paths and patios, a final check of the borders, and a blow-down of any loose debris. The aim is to hand the garden back in a state where you can enjoy it straight away.
A seasonal cleanup is about momentum. Once the garden is back to a clean baseline, everything becomes simpler to maintain. The weekly mow takes less time, the weeds are easier to spot, and the borders hold their shape for longer. Most of my cleanup customers book twice a year, once in spring and once in autumn, which keeps things manageable year-round. In Cornwall’s mild climate, where growth barely pauses even in winter, that regular reset makes a real difference.
